Why Work With a Publisher Like Us
Choosing a publisher is not just a logistical decision.
It’s a decision about how your voice, your message and your body of work are stewarded.
At House of Indigo, we partner with authors who want professional publishing support without losing the integrity of their work. We do not overwrite your voice or force your book into a formula designed for speed or volume. We support the translation of your ideas into the world with clarity, discernment and care.
We approach books as long-term assets. Each project has a purpose, a lifespan and a relationship to the author’s wider work. That perspective informs every publishing decision we make, from structure to strategy to execution.
This is intentional, thoughtful publishing.
Not high-volume. Not templated. Not rushed.
What Authors Value Most About Working With Us
Authors who work with House of Indigo often share that they value:
-
Creative integrity:Â Your voice remains intact. Your work is not shaped into something generic or performative.
-
Trust in the process:Â Publishing logistics and decisions are handled professionally, allowing you to stay in your creative zone rather than managing details.
-
Clarity and discernment:Â When decisions arise, you are given context and reasoning so choices feel grounded and intentional.
- Respect for the work itself:Â Each book is treated as a distinct body of work, not as a product to push quickly through a system.
-
A calm, contained experience:Â Clear scope. Defined pathways. Minimal friction.
How We Work
Our publishing process is designed to be clear, contained, and professionally managed, so you can stay focused on your creative work while knowing the details are handled.
We work through clearly defined publishing pathways. Once a pathway is selected, the process is structured, paced and supported from start to finish. Depending on the scope of your project, you may work with different members of our team, including publishing, production or design support.
What this typically includes
While each project is shaped by the pathway selected, authors can expect:
- a clear starting point with outlined next steps
- defined points of communication and review
- updates at key stages of the process
- collaboration with the appropriate members of our team based on the scope
- a process that is organized, steady, and professionally held.
Our team manages publishing execution, allowing you to remain in your creative zone rather than overseeing logistics, platforms or technical details.
You’ll be invited into the process at specific moments where your input or approval is needed, without unnecessary back-and-forth or ongoing decision loops.
The exact structure of your experience, including whether your project includes a kickoff conversation, strategy components or additional touchpoints, is determined by the publishing pathway you choose. Each pathway clearly defines its inclusions to align expectations from the start.
Author Readiness & Participation
Our process works best when authors are ready to engage thoughtfully and decisively.
You do not need to have everything figured out before beginning. What matters most is a willingness to participate at designated points, respond within agreed timelines and trust the process once it is underway.
This allows the work to move forward smoothly and supports a respectful, collaborative experience on all sides.
A Note on Project Scope & Book Types
Unless otherwise noted, these publishing pathways are designed for text-based books.
Projects that are image-heavy, highly designed or require complex layouts, including children’s books, illustrated projects, workbooks or specialty formats, are scoped and priced separately based on design and production requirements.
Publishing Pathways
Our publishing work is offered through clearly defined pathways. Each pathway reflects a different level of scope, execution and strategic involvement.  Some authors arrive knowing exactly what they need. Others want confirmation before choosing a direction. Both are supported.
Below you’ll find the current publishing pathways available.
